This is our glossary, we have habit of making up words or repurposing words in our articles so we’ve decided to put together this section of the site to make the process of understanding us less painful.
Anything we want it to mean, usually a general term we use for products or services in any market or vertical. Just take it in context.
You and I are growth scientists, we are working to grow our respective projects using all the knowledge and expertise we have. As part of that mission, we’re not afraid to take calculated risks.
Something on the 99th level of awesomeness. Where is the 99th level? No Idea, but it sounded good when I was typing this.
I grew up in Atlanta, I’m a southerner, we curse and swear, but only when it adds to the conversation.
I’m an avid reader with an extensive vocabulary so I probably have a better word to describe my thoughts floating somewhere in my mind, but I chose to swear instead. Shit happens. If I offend you then I’m sorry, but it’s part of who I am – who we are – and it won’t change anytime soon.
This is the epitome of poor communication. It’s those brands with home pages that read like this :
XYZ Company is the premier provider of widgets across all related verticals with a customer base of over twenty thousand small and medium sized businesses that trust us to deliver data backed solutions.
Do you know what they do? Neither do I. Avoid this at all costs.
These things are tricky. Sometimes they are necessary to show your audience you understand what’s going on in the industry and other times, it’s a waste of the kilobytes used to produce the black typeface.
Use them sparingly and only when you have to.
This is my favorite mythical super company that sells widgets by the truckload and has millions of different voices, audience segments, and online assets.
They make mistakes and get it right about an equal percent of the time.
This is the 35% of the people who you interact with on any given day during the course of business that keeps your startup, business, or blog alive. These are the people you sweat for, these are the people you bleed for, and these are the people who appreciate what you do above all others.
They are inviolate.
These are also growth scientists with a leaning toward creating products and services that are decidedly off the beaten path and oftentimes are intagible. Software, videos, Ebooks, training courses, and artwork are all fair game for this unique group.
a virtuous cycle is a process that produces more of a positive. For example, you produce great articles, you promote it well and drive traffic. People read the article, share it, and link to it and drive more traffic. The second group of people read it, share it, and link to it and drive even more traffic. It’s a virtuous cycle.
